CERTIFICATIONS


 

The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors “R” Certificate Program

"R" Stamp CertificationGeneral & Mechanical Services holds the Certificate of Authorization and “R” symbol stamp for the repair and/or alteration of boilers, pressure vessels, and other pressure-retaining items.
Through inspection agencies, General & Mechanical Services has some latitude concerning certain NDE efforts. When repairs or alterations are made, the stamp holder is required to do such repairs in accordance with his or her American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)/National Board approved written Quality Control program. At General & Mechanical Services, there is a Quality System to cover the scope of repairs or alterations to be made.
After the repairs are made, the stamp holder will complete the required R-1 form and deliver it to the owner signed by the authorized inspector. Details are included in the current edition of the National Board Inspection Code (NB-23), Part RA.
 

Medical Gas Certification

Installation of piping in medical gas systems is governed by requirements included in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 99) Standard for Health Care Facilities. Certification requires attending a 32 hour (minimum) course, passing a 70 question written/drawing test as well as horizontal and vertical braze test. This program leads to certification as a Medical Gas Installer.
 

Backflow Certification

This certification is approved by the Maryland State Board of Plumbing and the Washington Sanitary Commission. The primary purpose is to define, describe and illustrate typical cross-connections and to suggest methods and devices by which they may be eliminated. This rigorous program leads to certification as a Backflow Prevention Assembly Technician and Installer.

Welding Qualification

Welders are tested on the welding processes most commonly used on the majority of construction projects. Our flexible welding program can accommodate special requirements of customers. Testing standards exceed the National Certified Pipe Welders Bureau specifications and are certified by Harford Steam Boiler through GMS’ membership in a local association. This certification program provides pre-tested, certified and immediately available Journeyman Welders.
 
 

CFC Freon Recovery / EPA Compliance

This CFC plan is approved as a Technician Certificate Program under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Exams are administered for Core, Types I, II, III and Universal CFC licenses. This program insures compliance with EPA Clean Air Act amendments.
 

Standard First Aid Certification

Basic first-aid for helping in an emergency situation.

CPR Certification

Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
